Completed 2015. Making Modern Home started with a blank slate and completely designed and furnished the interior of this recently built Barton Hills duplex. The cognac leather sofa serves as an anchor piece for this masculine finish out. MockingbirdMade (www.mockingbirdmade.com) was an incredible resource. Not only did they have vintage items and fine art pieces they also hand-built many of the custom case goods. With the direction of Making Modern Home, Mockingbird detailed and built the walnut and gray lacquer mid-century modern entertainment center, foyer console, dining room table, daybed under the stairs, office furniture, and pecan headboard. We couldn't be happier with their fine craftsmanship and service! They also built the industrial light that anchors the living room! How wonderful. This home's design juxtaposes modern FLOR carpet tiles with vintage rugs, antique brass with slick quartz, bold patterns with soft textures, fine art with IKEA finds, and Kartell Masters chairs with a walnut table. This home's design proves that modern can be warm, that a masculine space does not have to look like a "bachelor pad", and that sourcing locally can give you the best bang for the buck. The overall look is collected, thoughtful, and just as poised for entertaining as it is for kicking back, playing guitar, and drinking a Texas brew.
