Reimagined 1910 Folk Victorian

Making Modern Home was hired to consult on the design and vision of reimagining this 1910 Folk Victorian - actually the oldest home we have redesigned so far! Before, this East Austin Chestnut neighborhood home was in dire shape and most developers would have torn it down, but we saw potential and saved the shell. Sadly, there was no real original character to save, so we had to fabricate it. Impressively, the investor actually hand crafted each of the scallop shingles at the front gable, and he didn’t even bat an eye when I specified a historic pink color - Sherwin Williams Rose Brocade. Inside, since stain quality wood trim throughout (like would have been installed in 1910), was cost prohibitive, we opted to add warmth throughout by selecting wood french doors with a natural stain, adding wood beams in the kitchen and dining room, designing a custom copper range hood, and by installing brick accents.
